On July 7th, Australian artist Matthew Griffin debuted a work he titled “Pickle,” a single slice of pickle he got from a McDonald’s cheeseburger and flung it at the white ceiling of a gallery space. It did not fall and remained there.
According to the gallery, this most recent work is intentionally designed to question what art has value and what doesn’t.
It was listed with a price tag of about $10,000 Australian dollars — which equals about $6,916 in U.S. currency.
No word on whether the “artwork” sold or not.
